Tekelek in the water community industry for the first time.

Recently Tekelek has been developing opportunities in the water and waste-water industries which represents a new vertical in Tekelek’s application portfolio.

An Irish company providing design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance services within the water and wastewater sector required a solution to send an alert to an operator, should the water level rise inside an overflow pipe indicative of a pump failure.

Tekelek saw this as a great opportunity for the company and provided a simple solution with a float switch assembly which, when activated would send an alert to the person responsible for maintaining the pump via a text message.

Our client selected the Tekelek stand-alone GSM switch input monitor, which was customised to send text message alerts on switch activation. The proven reliability, performance and cost point makes it a scalable solution for this application and raises the potential for others in the water/wastewater sector.

This represents the first endeavour for Tekelek in the water / waste water industry and demonstrates where Tekelek technology can provide a simple installation, maintenance free and cost effective solution in what would otherwise be a flood risk for the client.

Introducing the new Tekelek LoRaWAN Waste Bin Monitor!

As an extension of Tekelek’s core IoT hardware offering, Tekelek is pleased to introduce the TEK839 LoRaWAN Waste Bin Monitor. This exciting innovation will enable Tekelek to serve the LoRa waste management and waste monitoring markets.

The LoRaWAN Waste Monitor is ready for market following extensive testing on multiple waste types including cardboard, plastics, glass, and general waste leading to first deployments in Q3 2019.

With growing market competition and demands in the waste management sector, Tekelek’s technology enables improvement in efficiency of waste and recycle bin collections.

The LoRaWAN waste sensor solution is providing cost effective visibility to bin levels, with an exceptional battery life (>14 years). LoRaWAN waste sensors that are mounted in the bins are part of a system that can track and learn from patterns of activity in the bins. Collected data provided by the sensors assist the waste management company to make decisions on when trash collectors should empty them and where recycling options might be needed. It is also helping the waste management company to mitigate container overflow as the device is pre-configured to send notifications when the bins are 80 percent full.

An outstanding benefit in deploying the waste monitoring technology is the reduction in the number of overall collections, and optimisation of operational resources which will ultimately increase profitability.
“This new development allows us to capitalise on advances and economies in IoT technologies to provide greater intelligence on management and monitoring of waste,” said Oliver McCarthy, General Manager. Tekelek presents an exciting opportunity for greater efficiency and improved customer service in the waste sector.

Peter McCarthy, CEO Tekelek speaks at Shannon Chamber event

Tekelek CEO, Peter McCarthy, was pleased to participate at a recent Shannon Chamber briefing event to welcome UNIDO Director General, Mr. LI Yong.

In 1980, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) brought a delegation of Chinese officials to Shannon Free Zone (SFZ) on a three-week training course. Almost 40 years later the current UNIDO Director General, Mr. LI Yong, recently made an official visit to the SFZ to speak about these historic ties, UNIDO’s vision and its approach to creating shared prosperity through industrial development.

The event brought together a number of Shannon Free Zone companies who presented on how they have developed over time and what they do today and expect to be doing in the future.

Peter McCarthy, CEO of Tekelek, was delighted to speak at the briefing showcasing all that Tekelek technology offers and in particular, Tekelek’s water monitoring project activity with the UN at refugee camps.

Mr. LI Yong, as former Vice Minister of Finance of China, has first-hand experience of how the knowledge garnered at Shannon in 1980 influenced the development of the Chinese economy over the past four decades. As Director General of UNIDO he knows how important networks and knowledge sharing are to building shared prosperity and inclusive and sustainable development. This was a unique opportunity for Tekelek to harness this sentiment and present to an audience with the shared interest of striving for continued development.

Tekelek embarks on global water management project with UNHCR

Tekelek is excited to announce that we are now engaging with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in remote water tank monitoring to deliver real time intelligent management of vital water inventories across refugee camps. This project also enables route planning and optimisation for UNHCR to facilitate efficient and economical logistics across global UNHCR locations.

Pilot testing of Tekelek’s SMART ultrasonic level measurement technology to remotely monitor the level of water at two selected field test locations has been well received by UNHCR.

Oliver McCarthy, General Manager of Tekelek, says, “This is an exciting and significant project for both parties. Prior to testing Tekelek tank monitoring technology, a key challenge for UNHCR had been to remotely monitor fill levels of their water tank containers, in refugee camps over wide areas and across multiple geographies. These early stage deployments are now part of the evolution in remote telemetry applications and demonstrate the real value this technology can bring to people’s wellbeing” McCarthy said.

Ongoing collaboration project development is scheduled for 2019.

Tekelek LoRa tank monitoring technology deployed by Picoty in France.

Ultrasonic Level Sensor - Level Measurement Solution LoRa Ultrasonic Monitor

Picoty deploys advanced fuel tank monitoring solution from Tekelek to optimize business operations

Tekelek, a leading developer and manufacturer of IoT telemetry products and solutions, today announced the launch of a large-scale deployment of LoRa-connected ultrasonic sensors with Picoty in France. Under the contract, Tekelek will supply Picoty with the recently developed LoRaWAN Tank Sensor which is a flexible and configurable battery-operated liquid sensor with an integrated LoRaWAN radio. It is the first among such SMART tank monitoring devices to be deployed to the European fuel oil distribution market and will enable Picoty to monitor tanks across its group of 27 affiliates in Western France. The Picoty Group, one of France’s largest fuel distribution companies, provisions fuel, gas, lubricants, ad blue and additives to tens of thousands of tanks in France. The project will use the LoRa network and data platform of Objenious, part of the Bouygues Telecom group.

“We have chosen Tekelek for their deep experience developing accurate and robust tank sensors,” said Mathias Schildt – Growth Development Director and Isabelle Bodecot Chief Product Manager. “Together with Objenious, which operates the largest LoRa network in France so far, they have put together a compelling solution that allows us to monitor both over-ground and underground tanks throughout France, with excellent quality and battery life. This solution enables us to better organise more efficient deliveries, reduce our carbon footprint, and optimise our logistics. We can offer this solution to a wider range of customers than before due to the cost and battery performance advantages of LoRa, meaning our customers are assured a reliable, efficient and timely fuel delivery service.”

Oliver McCarthy, General Manager says “this is an exciting time at Tekelek. We are delighted to engage with Picoty and this deployment in France highlights the opportunity that SMART tank monitoring technology offers. Traditionally, cost of investment has prevented the widespread deployment of tank monitoring units to homes and businesses. Tekelek’s new LoRaWAN Level Monitors infrastructure is based on an ultra-low-power, long-range LoRaWAN network. The advantages of a low-cost network infrastructure, long life battery and low maintenance costs makes large scale monitoring now an affordable and profitable investment for groups such as Picoty”

The TEK766 LoRaWAN Monitor has the following key features and benefits:

  • • Real time data analytics
  • • Remote configurability
  • • 14-year battery life
  • • Flexible liquid level measurement solution i.e. fuel oil, water, chemicals, lubricants, liquid fertiliser etc.
  • • Spot and continuous inventory management

“Today, thanks to this SMART solution, which is easy to install and flexible, fuel oil stakeholders’ benefit from numerous advantages, at a lower cost Oliver McCarthy, General Manager at Tekelek.
